Metal deactivators are additives in gasoline, jet fuel, etc. Often used together with antioxidant and anti-adhesive agents. It is used to inhibit the catalytic effect of metals, especially copper, on oil oxidation, so as to give full play to the role of antioxidant anti-adhesive agents and reduce the dosage of antioxidant anti-adhesive agents. Commonly used are the carbonyl condensates of amines, such as N, N′-disaliylidene-1,2-propanediamine. Metal passivators can react with metal ions to form chelates, leaving the metal in a passivated state that loses its oxidation-promoting effect. The added amount is about 0.0003-0.001% (weight).
